12-18's Volunteering
Young Volunteers
What is Young Volunteers?
Young Volunteers is our most popular program and often has a waiting list to join. Don't worry though! We put on regular taster days for anyone on the waiting list to keep you in the loop while the next volunteering opportunity comes up!
What's involved?
Young Volunteers go through an initial training program so that they can be safe and confident around the horses. When they're ready to graduate they can then book onto volunteering sessions outside of school hours, helping in and around the yard.
Young Volunteers help to care for our horses and also assist with the delivery of riding lessons by assisting new riders.
Young Volunteers can earn tokens which they can then exchange for riding lessons making learning to ride accessible for all.
Young Volunteers make lots of new friends. They can work towards accredited qualifications, get involved in trips, Youth Committee and a range of other activities from film making to fitness. There is no charge for this age group as it is funded through grants and donations.
Times / Days
Once you graduate (congratulations BTW) you can come in out of school hours on any day. Only thing we ask is that you book in via the ECPro booking system, if you don't book in we cannot let you in onto yard. This is essential to keep everyone safe and the yard running smoothly.
“Stepney Bank Stables played a huge role in my childhood, building friendships, life skills and providing me with a vast range of opportunities I otherwise would never have experienced. I have made friends that I am still close with today, even 10+ years later!” Former Young Volunteer.
