What is adult volunteering?
Adult volunteers are a huge support to all aspects of SBS and we value the time given to us by our adult volunteers. Volunteering at SBS is extremely rewarding and can offer friendship and all the benefits to wellbeing of helping others whilst doing something you enjoy. Please note that, because of the nature of our work with young people, all adult volunteer roles require an enhanced DBS check which we'll process and pay for as part of the onboarding process.
Adult volunteer roles
We have equestrian and non-equestrian roles available. The non-equestrian roles are handyman/woman, driver (driving a car and trailer) and receptionist. To apply for a non-equestrian role please email hello@stepneybankstables.com and we'll arrange an informal chat about the role.
Who can apply to be an Equestrian Adult Volunteer?
We welcome applications from adults who have previous equestrian experience. We have no funding in place to support adult volunteering, onboarding and co-ordination of adult volunteers is done by an adult volunteer! Therefore we are unable to provide opportunities to anyone who has significant support needs.
Whats involved?
Adult volunteers help with horse care tasks and management. Often adult volunteers help with the running of lessons. This can include leading horses and riders during ridden sessions, particularly supporting riders who have additional support needs.
