Young people creating connection and confidence through horses.
Our mission is to bring joy and enhance the wellbeing and lasting life chances of young people through caring for and riding horses.
We provide young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to trust 363 days a year.
Who We Are
We are a children's charity (No. 1084687) based in the heart of
Newcastle upon Tyne
Stepney Bank Stables is a registered charity using horses to engage with young people. Horses are a fantastic medium for teaching kindness, commitment, resilience and responsibility among many other things.
One of the ways that we fund our work is by providing riding lessons to the public. This also creates an environment for young people to gain real life work experience and build key skills such as teamwork, communication and negotiation. By riding with us you’re also supporting our work with young people!
We are a British Horse Society approved centre with qualified, friendly and experienced staff to encourage and inspire you. We hold a 5 star riding school licence.
We cater for riders aged 3+ and for all riding abilities. We have an upper weight limit of 13 stone. Both private and group classes are available.
We run volunteer projects in three different age categories – 8-11s, 12-18’s and Adults. We rely on volunteers to help us care for the horses and - through volunteering - participants make new friends, develop new skills, increase their activity levels and grow in confidence. All volunteers go through a training program to ensure that they can work safely with the horses. There are opportunities to gain qualifications in horse care and in mentoring for those who wish to.
If you’d like to take part please complete the expression of interest form for your age group and we’ll then contact you with next steps.
