FAQ's

What should I wear?

We have riding hats and riding boots which are free to borrow. We suggest that you wear leggings or tracksuit bottoms. It’s important that your legs are covered to prevent chaffing.

 

Is there a weight limit?

Our current weight limit is 12 stone (including hat and boots) and we adjust that according to the horses we have in work. Each horse has it’s own individual weight limit.

 

How old do you have to be to start riding?

We have lessons suitable for children aged 3 and upwards. For children aged 3-6 years old we recommend our Junior Jockeys lesson.

 

Don’t the horses mind living in the city?

We work hard to ensure that our horses have a varied, interesting and happy life. This includes regular breaks in a field on the outskirts of the city, gentle walks out around the local park, massage treatments and loose schooling.

 

What does BHS approval mean?

It means that we a regularly inspected by the British Horse Society to ensure that our horse welfare, facilities and standard of coaching are appropriate.

What is the minimum age to volunteer? 

We have an 8-11's program and a 12-18's program.
