Horses wanted to buy or loan 🦄

We’re still looking for a new addition to the Stepney squad. 15-16hh aged 5+. Sound and sensible, able to pop a small fence. Must enjoy human interaction.

Professional, horse centred care provided.

Willing to travel within a 60 mile radius of Newcastle to view. Please get in touch if you have someone who may be suitable 🧡

I think we can all agree that these lockers have seen better days. We are going to remove and replace them. Please ensure all belongings in yellow lockers are removed by the end of this month. Any remaining items after 1st October will be put into lost property. Any uncollected lost property items will be donated to charity in December. Thank you for your cooperation.

The team felt that, on the whole, changes had made positive differences to our work with young people and our horse welfare. We’re looking at ways to increase capacity, reduce waiting times for new volunteers, further develop training especially horse handing and leading. Are there things you think we can improve or develop?

Pony club have been busy tonight!
Juniors (4.30-5.30pm) designed and built their own in hand course to practice their leading skills.
Seniors (5.30-6.30pm) learnt about trotting up a horse for inspection and checking for soundness. They then went to pick some blackberries (Ginny’s favourite!).

Pony Club is a fantastic way to make new friends and learn new skills.

Introducing the 2024/25 Scholars!

We had so many BRILLIANT applications from young volunteers wishing to become scholars this year. It was INCREDIBLY hard to choose as all applicants were very worthy. We extended the scheme this year because the standard of applications was so high.

Scholars take on additional responsibilities such as supporting newer attendees. In exchange they receive additional training and the opportunity to sit professional accredited qualifications 🐴🤓.

👏 Well done guys… we can’t wait to see what you’ll achieve ⭐️

🥳 our gorgeous Dotty has had the all clear to begin to return to work. Dotty had an episode of poor digestive health (exact cause unknown) and, at one point it was touch and go. We’ve been very worried about her and it’s wonderful to see her looking so much better!

Thank you so much to everyone who’s helped get her back to good health including Intake Vets , Janet and Jean for providing a place for Dotty to recuperate, Leanne for looking after her and Succeed Equine for supporting her recovery 🖤🤍

Dressage clinic with International Classical Dressage Trainer Peter Maddison-Greenwell. An exciting opportunity to learn from an exceptional trainer and rider! Sunday 20th October and Monday 21st October.

Peter has trained many horses of his own and many more for clients. His passion is based on the principles of the “Old Masters”, having studied and put into practice this knowledge with all types of horses and all levels of riders.
“Light hands and still legs” are the foundation of Classical riding. “The Horse should appear to do the movement as if of its own accord” is first and foremost in his teaching.
From the crucial understanding of the correct seat and use of aids at the beginning, to the advanced work of any horse, Peter is respected by many riders who have competed and performed at the highest levels and still call on him for help.

Lessons are available to Stepney riders on Sunday 20th October. These will be taught in groups of 4 and are available to book on ECPro for £45 per person for 40 minutes.

Riders with their own horses can book private sessions later on Sunday afternoon and/or on Monday. These will be £95 for 40 minutes. There is an option for stabling for those who want to do both days. £20. Please note that stabling will be a short walk from the arena along a moderately busy road. Please email sara.newson@stepneybankstables.com to book private sessions on your own horse. Payment will be required in advance and is non-refundable.

Spectators a welcome. We suggest a donation of £10 which can be made on the day

Back from an incredible couple of days at High Borrins with some of the Young Volunteers. All showed tremendous courage, teamwork and maturity. A few of the group (the staff) felt a little disconcerted sleeping in a big, old house with spiders the size of mice so PC Paula did a thorough check before bedtime to put our minds at rest 🍌

Then to the lake for canoeing, kayaking and jumping in!

This morning we’re going gorge walking. Expecting a quiet minibus home this afternoon 🤞

Where to begin with our gratitude for this Stepney legend?! He’s been such a key part of so many children’s horse care and riding journeys. He’s been so patient, standing quietly for children to groom, allowing new leaders to practice their handling skills and helping riders gain confidence on and off lead rein. He has done an incredible job for us and it’s now time for him to enjoy a more varied job with a family who’ll adore him. THANK YOU gorgeous Phoenix, we’ll miss you. Your new family are very lucky 🧡
